Nightime detours coming to I-20 West between mile markers 61 and 54 this week
COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– According to the South Carolina Department of Transportation, the Westbound Local Lane of I-20 between mile markers 61 and 54 will be closed at night from May 11-14. Authorities say all Westbound traffic will be directed into the through lane and not have access to exits 55 and 58. Officials say those who wish to use those exits will have to first take exit 51 to I-20 Eastbound before taking their desired exit. Additionally, officials say on-ramps on US1 and SC6 will also be closed at the same times.
Authorities say those who wish to enter I-20 Westbound at exit 55 will take a detour from Two Notch Road to Longs Pond Road where they can take exit 51.
Authorities say the closures will last Tuesday, May 11- Friday, May 14 from 8 p.m.-6 a.m. the next morning.
There will be signage posted to help drivers find the best route to their destination.
Officials say the road work is part of a project to widen 11 miles of I-20 in Lexington County, and they expect it to be complete during summer 2021.
