Man shot to death in Gaffney field

GAFFNEY, S.C. (AP) — Gaffney police are investigating the shooting death of a man found in a field.

Cherokee County Coroner Dennis Fowler says officials responded to a shooting shortly after 4 p.m. Sunday.

Fowler says Trey T. Montgomery of Gaffney was taken to Upstate Carolina Medical Center in Gaffney where he was pronounced dead.

Fowler says the case is being treated as a homicide. He says an autopsy is planned.

No arrests have been made.
