35-year-old Lexington man sentenced to life for murder

LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– A 35-year-old Lexington man was convicted last week by a Lexington County jury and sentenced to life for murder, say officials.

Donovan Ryan Holman was convicted and sentenced for the murder of Caldwell “Jay” Motley, Jr., age 38, on Oak Ridge Lane in Lexington.

Holman was also sentenced to thirty years for attempted murder and twenty-five years for arson both to run concurrently with the life sentence.

Under South Carolina law, the life sentence means that Holman will spend the rest of his life in prison and there is no possibility of parole, say 11th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.

Investigators say Holman attacked and stabbed Caldwell over 126 times.
