IRMO, S.C. (WOLO) — As a coach at Irmo High School for 31 years, Tim Whipple has put his signature on Yellow Jacket basketball. Now, it’s official. During a pregame ceremony Friday night, Irmo High School officially honored their coach by putting his name on the floor. The defending state champion Yellow Jackets promptly went out on Tim Whipple Court and beat Ridge View 57-52 in a AAAA state championship game rematch. Detrek Browning helped Irmo pull away in a decisive 3rd quarter after the game was tied at 20 at halftime. Browning led the Yellow Jackets with 25 points. Clemson commit Jordan Roper added 16. Irmo and USC all-time leading scorer B.J. McKie was one of dozens of former players on hand to honor Whipple.
