SC high school team’s locker room robbed at game

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) — Police are investigating the theft of a visiting high school basketball team’s possessions from their locker room during the second half of a basketball tournament.

The Times and Democrat of Orangeburg reports (http://bit.ly/tydSxE ) that the thefts happened Wednesday, during the final game of the Orangeburg-Wilkinson Sweet 16 basketball tournament.

At some point after halftime, the locker room being used by Goose Creek High School was hit by thieves, who ransacked players’ belongings and made off with a number of their possessions. Goose Creek lost the game to Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School by six points.

Orangeburg-Wilkinson Principal Gregory McCord says the school will make restitution to the Goose Creek players. He says the high school will increase security and surveillance in locker rooms and other parts of the school.
