Dry New Year’s for some in SC without Sunday sales
ANDERSON, S.C. (AP) — New Year’s Eve celebrations will come to an abrupt end in plenty of places across South Carolina that don’t allow alcohol to be sold on Sundays.
One of those places in Anderson County, where the Anderson Independent-Mail reports (http://bit.ly/vk8YUV ) deputies will crack down on any businesses or clubs that sell alcohol after midnight Saturday.
Businesses inside Anderson city limits can serve alcohol until 2 a.m. Sunday.
The owner of Nooks More Than A Restaurant in Anderson County says he will follow the rules and stop serving just as 2012 starts. But he is also celebrating the new year with drinks and toasts as it arrives in Paris, London and Rio de Janeiro hours before midnight in South Carolina as an alternative.
