COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Love is in the air at the Waffle House on South Lake Drive in Lexington. Unit Manager, Dianne Lee and her crew spent the day Tuesday, getting ready for a Valentine’s tradition at the restaurant, a romantic dinner for two. “It’s the Waffle House, nobody expects that,” says Lee. The night comes complete with low lighting, slow music and a table set for two, with flowers. “Right now, I have 40 reservations..that’s about 92 people,” says Lee. Crandall Sims reporting, “Not only has the entire restaurant been transformed, but employees here at Waffle House have added a little something extra for you and your sweetheart this Valentine’s Day, dinner by candlelight.” But that isn’t the only thing special. “I like to do little heart shaped waffles with a llittle whip cream and hot fudge,” says Lee. But it wouldn’t be Valentine’s without the love stories. “I have one particular couple that likes to sit in one booth and they’ve been married for 25 years and that’s the booth they like to reserve and sit in,” says Lee. This is Dianne’s fourth year of hosting the Valentine’s dinner and for her, the event just keeps getting better. “The customers, they reach across the table and touch each other’s hand, they’ll lean across the table and kiss each other,” says Lee. The Waffle House dinner comes at a cost of $25.00 per couple. The mean includes a ribeye, salad, Texas Toast and dessert.
