Dorchester school denies cover-up in sex case

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — A private school in Dorchester County is denying allegations in lawsuits that the school covered up molestation allegations by one-time coach Louis ReVille.

Pinewood Preparatory School officials say they don’t think a lawsuit filed against the school in December has merit.

School board chairman James Mann says ReVille was terminated from the school because of his failure to teach at the academic level the school expects. Mann says claims that ReVille was released for any other reasons are wrong.

Two lawsuits have been filed against the school by former students who accuse Pinewood of covering up ReVille’s sexual abuse of students.

ReVille held a number of teaching, coaching and volunteer positions in the Charleston area. He was arrested in October by Mount Pleasant police on charges of molesting boys.
