Charleston pauses on anniversary of deadly fire
CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Charleston is pausing to remember the deaths of nine firefighters who perished four years ago fighting a furniture store fire.
Saturday is the anniversary of the fatal fire at the Sofa Super Store.
Charleston Fire Chief Tom Carr says the fire department is honoring the nine firefighters with a memorial service at the vacant lot where the store once stood.
Firefighters are reading the names of the fallen firefighters Saturday evening.
The memorial also includes bagpipes and a performance by the Charleston Symphony.
