Local Residents React to Deadly Ohio Shooting

(WOLO) COLUMBIA,S.C., — Shelia Hemmingway says the scene outside of another school shooting is a parent’s worst nightmare. “They are only suppose to think of one thing when they go to school, to have to deal with this is just not fair.” As a mother of three young boys, Hemmingway says she is a very proactive parent. Watching each of the facebook posts and tweets her children write, and wonders if the Ohio shooting could have been prevented had someone paid attention to warning signs. One of those signs, reportedly a tweet posted on the 17 year old students twitter page just this past weekend. On the page, what some call disturbing remarks like “I am death”, and “feel smaller beneath my might…die all of you.” Students at the Ohio school identified the shooter as TJ Lane, a quite, but nice kid. Still, longtime educator Jay Fuller says if people knew about the post before Monday Mornin the threat should have been taken more seriously. Fuller says prompt action could have prevented the tragedy that could have happened anywhere, even right here at home. TJ lane remains in custody, but has not been officially charged at this time.
