SC man mistaken for ‘Johnny’ beaten, stabbed
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) — Myrtle Beach police say attackers may have targeted the wrong man for a beating, stabbing and robbery.
The Morning News of Florence reports (http://bit.ly/H1Bk0q ) a police report describes the victim as walking past a wooded lot carrying groceries when the suspects approached him and started calling him “Johnny.”
Police say the 29-year-old man tried to explain his name wasn’t “Johnny” and walked away. He was struck from behind, knocked to the ground and eventually stabbed in the left arm. His attackers went through his pockets, took his money, wallet, cell phone, identity documents and credit cards.
Police say the victim picked up his groceries, walked home and later got a ride to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center for treatment.
