Spartanburg deputy charged with speeding in wreck
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) — A Spartanburg County sheriff’s deputy has been charged after a wreck.
Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Bill Rhyne says the wreck happened shortly before noon Thursday on Interstate 585 at U.S. 221.
Officials say 52-year-old Deputy Ted Beaty of Spartanburg was on duty and was driving an unmarked vehicle.
Rhyne says Beaty’s vehicle ran into the back of a car driven by an Inman woman. There were no injuries.
Rhyne says Beaty has been charged with driving too fast for conditions.
Master Deputy Tony Ivey says Sheriff Chuck Wright will review the crash to determine if any disciplinary action will be taken.
