Columbia Fire Dept. responds to house fire on Veterans Road

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– The Columbia-Richland Fire Department says crews responded to a house fire on Veterans Road shortly after 12:30 a.m. Thursday. Responding crews reported heavy fire coming from the front of the home.

Firefighters say they found four pets once they entered the home. Officials say three of the pets were able to be rescued while the other pet was deceased.

According to investigators, the fire was caused by discarding smoking materials.
