Truck company starting Lowcountry plant, creating 300 jobs

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — A truck manufacturer in Myrtle Beach is opening a plant in Summerville that will create 300 new jobs.

Alkane Truck Company made the announcement Thursday.

The company makes trucks and tractors that run on liquid propane, compressed natural gas and liquid natural gas. The plant will be in an existing building and is expected to begin operation by April 1.

The 300 jobs will be created as the plant reaches full capacity within two years.
