Columbia, S.C. (WOLO) — The rain has stopped and the debris has been removed, but devastation remains for thousands of South Carolina residents. “You will still see homes that have been damaged, you’ll still see homes in need of repair,” says Governor Nikki Haley. Helping families who aren’t receiving government assistance, rebuild and recover is the goal the Governor’s One SC Flood Relief Fund. According to Haley,”One South Carolina is your opportunity to help those neighbors. You may never know who they are but they are our family, they are South Carolinians they are people who don’t deserve to be in this situation.” The Central Carolina Community Foundation will collect donations and then use the funds to award grants to non profits working to repair damaged homes. “If you were blessed and did not have damage by your home, If you were blessed and you had insurance pay it forward help those that are not,” says Haley. Joining in the relief effort is a long list list of well known South Carolinians who echo the Governor’s call for assistance. “There are thousands of people all across this state who need your help,” says former South Carolina Governor David Beasley. “To whom much is given, much is required and this is an easy requirement for all of us,” says USC Women’s Basketball Coach Dawn Staley. “I’m a South Carolinian, I’m proud to be a South Carolinian and I’ll do everything in my power to help the people here,” says former USC running back Marcus Lattimore. “In every instance and every situation everybody has come together and bounced back like nothing even happened. This is another opportunity for us to show that,” says former Clemson quaterback Tajh Boyd.
