The Tigers will return home to Clemson, S.C., for their next matchup on Tuesday, Feb. 2. Clemson is set to host the North Carolina Tar Heels (11-5, 6-3) at Littlejohn Coliseum.
After taking part in a double-overtime affair earlier in the week, the Tigers came out on top in an intense overtime duel versus the Orange, winning 86-77 at Littlejohn Coliseum.
In the final 6:51 of the game, Clemson went on a 23-7 run, including an 11-0 run in the last 2:13 of play, but FSU came away with an 80-61 victory.
The Cavaliers took a 33-17 advantage into the break and pulled away in the second half, winning 85-50.
At least one Clemson player has been honored with consensus All-America status in nine of Dabo Swinney’s 12 full seasons as Clemson’s head coach.
Lawrence joins two-time finalist Deshaun Watson (third in balloting in 2015, second in 2016) as the only Clemson players ever to be named a finalist since the Heisman Trust began officially recognizing finalists in 1982.
The selection marks Clemson’s national-best sixth consecutive College Football Playoff (CFP) appearance. With the selections by both schools this year, Clemson and Alabama (six each) remain tied for the most CFP berths in history.
Trevor Lawrence, who did not play against Notre Dame in November, was 25-36 passing for 322 yards and two touchdowns to go along with a 34-yard touchdown run.
