For the third time in four seasons South Carolina women’s soccer (19-2-3, 7-0-3 SEC) reached the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals in 2019. The Gamecocks were the last standing SEC program in the 64-team tournament.
This will be the first University of South Carolina Athletics event since the March 11th softball game against Winthrop at Carolina Softball Stadium at Beckham Field 192 days ago (as of Saturday).
The Knoxville, Tenn., native was a three-year letterwinner for the Gamecocks, going 17-12 with a 3.48 ERA and 208 strikeouts in 235.1 innings pitched in his career.
At Williams-Brice Stadium, capacity will be reduced to approximately 20,000 available seats. Reduced capacity seating plans were also approved for Eugene E. Stone III Stadium for men’s and women’s soccer at approximately 675 seats, as well as the Carolina Volleyball Center at approximately 200 seats.
The Gamecocks will be back on the field Wednesday morning for practice number two.
South Carolina opens the season at home against Tennessee, and wraps up the year on the road against Kentucky.
While no final decisions have been made about the attendance capacity or seat assignments for the 2020 football season, the rollout allows season ticket purchasers to understand their options ahead of any upcoming deadlines.
The Tigers will visit Williams-Brice Stadium, while the Gamecocks will travel to Oxford, Miss., to face the Rebels.
The Task Force’s initial requirements for fall SEC sports include testing requirements, procedures for infections and contact tracing, and protocols for quarantine and isolation.
The Thorpe Award preseason watch list includes 49 of the nation’s best defensive backs, representing 10 conferences. The preseason watch list is selected by a screening committee whose members compile a list of up to 50 players.
