Kai Kroeger becomes the third Gamecock to earn accolades from the SEC this season.
Former graduate assistant coach Zeb Noland is set to start at quarterback for South Carolina against No. 17 Texas A&M on Saturday.
Carolina’s Sam Darnold finished 17 of 41 for 207 yards with one touchdown and two turnovers and nearly pulled off a wild comeback, bringing Carolina back from an 11-point fourth-quarter deficit to force overtime.
A couple of clutch swings from breakout slugger Austin Riley got the underdog Atlanta Braves off to a fast start in the NL Championship Series.
The Wolves bested the Indians in nearly every statistical category, but the stand-out number was the 80 yards the Wolves held the conference leading rushing attack to.
Noland entered on the Gamecocks’ final drive and led a 75-yard touchdown drive, connecting with Xavier Legette on a 9-yard scoring pass with 37 seconds left for a 21-20 win over Vanderbilt on Saturday night.
The Tigers are home again next week against Morehouse for Homecoming. Kickoff is 2 p.m.
