Newberry Opens Home Schedule
The Newberry College football team starts a three-game homestand this Saturday, welcoming the Dolphins of Jacksonville University to Setzler Field. Kickoff is at 1 p.m. Saturday.
Benedict Ready To Bounce Back
After losing the season opener 49-6, the Benedict College Tigers had a lot of work to do in a short amount of time. Head Coach Mike White is confident the Tigers will be better when they take on the Elizabeth City State Vikings on Saturday at 6 p.m. in Charlie W. Johnson Stadium.
USC Women Win SEC Opener At UGA
A trio of Gamecocks scored as 17th ranked South Carolina opened SEC play with a 3-1 victory over Georgia on Friday night. South Carolina improves to 6-1-0 and 1-0-0 in the SEC while the loss drops the Bulldogs to 0-5-1 and 0-1-0 in league play.

Lammons Doubtful For Kentucky Game
After Thursday’s Gamecock football practice, USC co-defensive coordinator Lorenzo Ward noted that starting cornerback Chris Lammons is doubtful for Saturday’s Kentucky game due to sore ribs. Al Harris Jr. and Rico McWilliams are the probable starters at the cornerback position.

The eighth-ranked South Carolina men’s golf team will open the 2015-16 season this weekend at the 27th Carpet Capital Collegiate. The 54-hole event will be contested Friday through Sunday at the par-72, 7,012-yard The Farm Golf Club in Rocky Face, Ga.
