Claflin, Bronston Earn Preseason Honors

Claflin University middle blocker Bria Bronston has been named the 2015 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Volleyball Preseason Player of the Year. She was also named to the Preseason First Team. The preseason honors, which were announced today by the league office, were voted on by the head volleyball coaches. Senior Kiara Johnson was also named to the Preseason First Team while the Lady Panthers, who are the reigning SIAC Champions, were picked to win the SIAC Eastern Division.

USC Announces Recipients of Endowed Scholarships

University of South Carolina Athletics announced today the recipients of eight endowed scholarships across four sports. Seven members of the group have appeared on the SEC Academic Honor Roll, two have earned All-SEC honors and two were All-America selections. Recipients for endowed scholarships are selected each year by the sport’s head coach.

Clemson Begins Season Friday

The Clemson women’s soccer team travels to Charleston, S.C. for two matches to start the 2015 season. The Tigers face Texas on Friday, Aug. 21 at 5 p.m. in the first game of the Charleston Nike Classic before facing College of Charleston on Sunday, Aug. 23 at 2:30 p.m. Both games will be played at the Patriots Point Athletics Complex in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.
