Michigan St. Edges Clemson 8-6

Blaise Salter hit a three-run homer in the fifth inning to give Michigan State the lead for good in its 8-6 win over Clemson at Fluor Field on Wednesday night. The Spartans improved to 7-7, while the Tigers dropped to 8-7. It was the first meeting between the two since 2011.

Clemson Comeback Falls Short, FSU Wins 76-73

Florida State withstood a furious rally from Clemson late in the second half and preserved a 76-73 win over the Tigers in the second round of the ACC Tournament at Greensboro Coliseum on Wednesday. Clemson cut a 20-point lead to two with 25 seconds left, but Rod Hall’s attempt to tie rolled off the rim and the Seminoles added a free throw to provide the final margin.

Benedict Guard Earns National Award

Benedict guard Brennan Reynard has been named the North Carolina Mutual BOXTOROW National Player of the Week.

Reynard, a 5-11, junior from Slidell, La., averaged 13.5 points, 5.3 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 4.3 steals in four games last week as the Tigers won the SIAC Tournament championship. Reynard was also named tournament MVP.

USC Women Invite Fans To Selection Show Event

South Carolina women’s basketball will celebrate the announcement of the NCAA Tournament bracket with its fans on Mon., Mar. 16, at Colonial Life Arena. The main entrance of the arena will open at 5:30 p.m. for the “one. FAN-ily Selection Show” sponsored by Hilton Columbia Center. The event will feature fan/student-athlete competitions and a performance by the Carolina Girls.

Reagan, Gamecocks Shut Out Penn St. 3-0

Sophomore left-hander Josh Reagan worked 6.2 scoreless inning allowing just one hit as seventh-ranked South Carolina defeated Penn State 3-0 on Tuesday night at Carolina Stadium. The Gamecocks improve to 13-3 on the year while the loss drops the Nittany Lions to 1-9.

USC Golf Edges Clemson, Sets School Record

The eighth-ranked South Carolina men’s golf team carded a final-round 279 (-1) to claim a one-stroke victory over rival Clemson at the Palmetto Intercollegiate on Tuesday at the historic Palmetto Golf Club.
The four wins match the school record for most wins in a single season at Carolina. The win is also the Gamecocks’ third straight tournament title, which is a school record.
