USC Volleyball Hosts #8 Florida

In its first midweek match of the season, the South Carolina volleyball team will host No. 8 Florida on Wednesday at the Carolina Volleyball Center.

First serve between the Gamecocks (13-4, 3-2 SEC) and Gators (12-3, 6-0) is set for 6 p.m. The match will be televised nationally on ESPNU.

Newberry Gets Ready To Host Homecoming

The Newberry College Wolves’ football team faces a stern test, as the No. 5 Lenoir-Rhyne University Bears come calling this weekend. The game is the annual Battle for the Bishops Trophy, as well as Newberry’s Homecoming contest.

SEC Admits Clock Error

The Southeastern Conference says the referee in the Alabama-Arkansas game mistakenly kept the clock running after a penalty near the end of the game, allowing the Crimson Tide to end the game without running a final play.

Florida To Play 2 QBs vs. Missouri

Florida coach Will Muschamp says freshman quarterback Treon Harris will play Saturday against Missouri.

Muschamp says Harris will share snaps with fourth-year junior Jeff Driskel, who has eight turnovers in the last three games.

Anderson Makes Midseason Watch List

University of South Carolina senior tight end Rory Anderson has been named to the 2014 John Mackey Award Midseason Watch List, it was announced today.

Anderson, a 6-5, 227-pounder from Powder Springs, Ga., has caught 17 passes for 180 yards and a touchdown through six games this season. During his career, Anderson has hauled in 56 passes for 874 yards and nine scores in 45 games, including 16 starts.
