COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier says things change quickly in the Southeastern Conference and he knows the 24th-ranked Gamecocks have a chance to alter the script once again.
The No. 24/23 South Carolina Gamecocks (1-1, 0-1 SEC) host the No. 6/6 Georgia Bulldogs (1-0, 0-0 SEC) in an SEC Eastern Division showdown on Saturday, September 13 at Williams-Brice Stadium. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m.
The Gamecock front will be tested to slow down Todd Gurley and the Bulldog rushing game. “We’re going to do our best,” said Adams. “We’re going against four really great running backs that could probably start for any team in this conference. It’s going to be a challenge for us to contain them but we’re going to do our best. Our guys are going to be in position to make plays. We’ve just got to make them when we’re there. (Gurley) is an aggressive runner,” noted Adams. “He runs very hard and he runs very physical. We’ve got to get him on the ground. We’ve got to tackle him and get him on the ground.”
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Steve Spurrier’s learned a bit more about No. 24 South Carolina — and likes what he’s discovered.
NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (AP) — Margaret Shirley shot a 3-under 69 on Sunday in the U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur at Harbour Trees to lead the 64 match-play qualifiers.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Former South Carolina and NFL running back Harold Green II has been arrested on charges of assaulting five female high school students.
It’s a surprising SEC East statistic, but one that’s held true the last three years. The winner of the South Carolina-Georgia game hasn’t gone on to win the division title.
Steve Spurrier says if the Gamecocks have any hopes of winning the SEC East this year, Saturday’s game against Georgia is a must-win.

Steve Spurrier doesn’t understand why it’s taken so long for the rest of the football world to treat domestic violence like he has for at least a decade.
Spurrier was asked about the recent Ray Rice situation at his weekly press conference Tuesday.
“I’ve had a rule here, ever since I’ve been (at South Carolina the last ten years). If you ever hit a girl you’re not going to play on our team. You’re finished.”
