Hopkins Inks Deal With Texans

The Houston Texans reached a contract agreement Monday with former Clemson wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins. According to reports, his contract is worth $7.62 million, with the first three years guaranteed. Hopkins also reportedly gets a signing bonus of $3.92 million.

Swearinger Signs With Texans

The Houston Texans have signed former Gamecock and rookie safety D.J. Swearinger to contract. According to reports, Swearinger’s 4-year contract is worth $3.49 million, with $1.315 million guaranteed.

Boyd Picked Preseason ACC POY

Clemson quarterback Tajh Boyd was picked as the Atlantic Coast Conference preseason player of the year Monday. Boyd received 105 of the 120 total votes from media members at the ACC Football Kickoff in Greensboro, North Carolina. The second place finisher, Duke Johnson of Miami, had only four votes.

Former Tiger Miller Named AL POW

Former Tiger and current Major League rookie Brad Miller was named American League Player-of-the-Week, announced on Monday. In three games on the week, all after a four-day break for the All-Star Game, Miller was 5-for-13 (.385) with two homers, seven RBIs, four runs, and three walks in leading the Seattle Mariners to a three-game sweep at Houston.
