Yankees Make Webb 10th Round MLB Draft Pick

South Carolina senior left-hander Tyler Webb was selected by the New York Yankees in the 10th round of the 2013 MLB Draft. Webb was the No. 314 overall selection. A third-team All-America this year by Collegiate Baseball and a second-team All-SEC honoree, the Gamecock southpaw is among SEC leaders with 17 saves including nine saves in conference contests.

Rain Delays Super Regional Until Saturday

The start of Friday’s NCAA Super Regional game between North Carolina and South Carolina will be delayed until Saturday due to inclement weather. First pitch, which was originally scheduled for 1:05 p.m., will now be on Saturday at 12:05 p.m.

Clemson’s Rollins Sets 2nd NCAA Track Record

Clemson superstar Brianna Rollins earned her second collegiate record of the 2013 season in Thursday’s 100 hurdles semifinal round at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, OR. The Miami, FL native and red-shirt junior rolled to a time of 12.47, eclipsing Ginnie Powell’s record of 12.48 that had stood since 2006. Rollins was one of four Tigers to advance to national finals on day two, including three in the high hurdles alone.

Martin Hires Clark As Top Assistant

University of South Carolina head men’s basketball coach Frank Martin has announced the hiring of Perry Clark as an assistant coach. Clark is a former head coach at Tulane, Miami (Fla.) and most recently at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Clark fills the open spot on Martin’s staff after former associate head coach Brad Underwood was named the head coach at Stephen F. Austin in late April.
