Clemson’s Kent Wins National Inspiration Award
Rising Clemson junior righthander Mike Kent (Springfield, VA) was named one of five winners of the second-annual Tom Walter College Baseball Inspiration Award, announced on Tuesday by CollegeBaseballInsider. The award is named for Wake Forest Head Coach Tom Walter, who donated a kidney to outfielder Kevin Jordan prior to the 2011 season.
USC Women’s Guard Roy Undergoes Surgery
South Carolina women’s basketball sophomore guard Tina Roy had successful surgery on Wed., Aug. 15, to repair an ACL injury in her right knee. University of South Carolina Athletics medical director, Dr. Jeffrey Guy, performed the surgery at Palmetto Richland Hospital. There is no definitive timeline for Roy’s return to the Gamecock lineup.
