Colby Holmes Likely Out For Bama Series

On his radio call-in show Wednesday night, Carolina Head Baseball Coach Ray Tanner said starting pitcher Colby Holmes had a “freak” injury in practice earlier in the day that would likely keep him from his usual starting spot in the final SEC game of the week.

Coastal Knocks Off Clemson 10-7

Rich Witten’s two-run double in the eighth inning broke a 7-7 tie and Coastal Carolina used its 15 hits to defeat Clemson 10-7 at Doug Kingsmore Stadium on Tuesday night. The Chanticleers improved to 27-13, while the Tigers dropped to 24-18. Clemson also fell to 5-1 in Tuesday games in 2012.

Dawkins Says Goodbye To Broncos

Former Clemson standout Brian Dawkins, who is calling it a career after 16 seasons in the NFL, dropped by Broncos headquarters Tuesday to say his goodbyes and thank management for allowing him to play three seasons in Denver after his bitter divorce from the Philadelphia Eagles in 2009.

New Arkansas coach John L. Smith says he couldn’t pass up the opportunity to guide a team he helped mold, one without a leader since Bobby Petrino’s firing. The Razorbacks introduced Smith as their new coach Tuesday after three weeks of turmoil surrounding Petrino’s affair.
