Gamecocks Look For Next Alshon

South Carolina is looking to find the next Alshon Jeffery and receivers coach Steve Spurrier Jr. says the search might last throughout the summer. The Gameoccks went through spring practice Friday with Spurrier Jr. getting a good look at several up-and-coming wideouts, including Alshon’s younger brother, Shamier Jeffery.

Gamecocks Spur Gators 9-3 In Series Opener

#8 South Carolina scored seven runs in the seventh and eighth innings on the way to a 9-3 victory over #1 Florida on Thursday night in the series opener at Carolina Stadium in front of a sellout crowd of 8,242 fans. Carolina improves to 17-5 and 1-3 in the SEC while Florida drops to 20-2 and 3-1 in league play.

USC Women Off To The Sweet 16

USC Stumbles Into Florida Series With Wofford Loss

Mac Doyle hit two home runs including a two-run homer in the eighth inning that tied the game and Konstantine Diamaduros had a RBI single in the 11th inning as Wofford defeated sixth ranked South Carolina 5-4 on Wednesday night at Carolina Stadium. Wofford improves to 9-12 while South Carolina drops to 16-5 on the year.

Clemson Gets 5th Straight, Leggett Wins 1200th

Mike Dunster’s three hits and three RBIs in his first start of the season and freshman righthander Daniel Gossett’s 10 strikeouts propelled Clemson to a 4-2 win over Elon in front of 2,319 fans at Fluor Field on Wednesday. The Tigers, who won both games of the two-game series, won their fifth game in a row and improved to 11-8 in 2012. The Phoenix fell to 12-10 on the season.

USC Beats Furman 8-5, Tanner Gets 1,100th Win

Joey Pankake went 5-for-6 with a pair of RBI and Evan Marzilli added four hits including a three-run homer as sixth ranked South Carolina snapped a three-game losing streak with an 8-5 win over Furman on Tuesday night at Fluor Field in Greenville, S.C. The win marked head coach Ray Tanner’s 1,100th career win in his 25th year as a head coach in Division I baseball.
