Gamecocks Shut Out Furman, 7-0

Junior center fielder Evan Marzilli belted a three-run homer and tied a career-high with four RBI and behind five scoreless innings from starting pitcher Joel Seddon, third ranked South Carolina defeated Furman 7-0 Wednesday evening in non-conference action at Carolina Stadium. The Gamecocks improve to 37-12 on the year while Furman drops to 22-26 for the season.

ACC Signs Reported $3.6 Billion ESPN Deal

he Atlantic Coast Conference and ESPN have extended their television deal through the 2026-27 season. The ACC and the network announced the extension Wednesday. A person familiar with the agreement told The Associated Press that it’s worth $3.6 billion over the 15 years. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because financial terms weren’t released when the two sides announced the deal.

Ingram Signs 4-Year Deal With Chargers

Former Gamecock All-American Melvin Ingram signed his first NFL contract Tuesday. Financial details weren’t released for the standard 4-year deal with the Chargers. San Diego took Ingram 18th overall. Last year the Chargers signed the 18th pick to a contract in the $8.5 million neighborhood.

Charleston Beats Clemson For First Time Ever

College of Charleston took advantage of three Tiger errors to score two unearned runs, which proved to be the difference in the Cougars’ 4-2 victory over Clemson at Doug Kingsmore Stadium on Monday afternoon. The Cougars improved to 32-15 on the season and won their first contest against the Tigers in 24 all-time meetings. The Tigers, who won the series 2-1, fell to 28-20.

Keselowski Rides Late Push To Talladega Win

Brad Keselowski used a big push from Kyle Busch to pass leader Matt Kenseth, and after leaving the Daytona 500 winner in their wake, Keselowski staved off Busch’s attempt to snatch the win. Using a move Keselowski said he had dreamed about, he held on for his second win of the season and second at Talladega.
