NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell is starting his summer tour at Carolina. The Panthers said Monday that Goodell would begin his tour of football camps with visit to Wofford College on Wednesday. Goodell plans to hold a question-and-answer session with fans before watching the team workout later that evening.

Lamar H.S. Football Player Dies

Authorities are investigating the death of a 14-year-old South Carolina high school football player who collapsed following a morning weekend practice. Darlington County Coroner J. Todd Hardee said Tyquan Xavier Brantley, a freshman at Lamar High School, died at a hospital late Saturday.

Clemson Baseball Head Coach Jack Leggett signed a new five-year contract, Athletic Director Terry Don Phillips announced on Friday. Leggett, who has served as head coach for 18 seasons (1994-11), signed a contract that will run through the 2016 season. It represents a two-year extension from his previous contract.

Newton Signs In Time For Training Camp

No. 1 overall draft pick Cam Newton has signed with the Carolina Panthers and arrived at training camp. Bus Cook, Newton’s agent, told The Associated Press via a text message Friday night that the deal was for four years and “$22 million-plus.”
