Elizabeth “Libby” Alexander Murdaugh, mother of Alex Murdaugh and wife of the late Randolph Murdaugh III, died Tuesday afternoon, according to Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home.

But one of the other things missing in that closing argument was one of the jurors lied about it too. We don’t know which one, but nobody said they got a ride home from Becky Hill, so one of the jurors lied about it as well, and that’s huge. That goes to the direct credibility of these jurors,” says Murray.

A South Carolina judge on Monday denied Alex Murdaugh’s bid for a new trial after his defense team accused a clerk of court of tampering with a jury.
Alex Murdaugh’s defense team was back in a Columbia courtroom on Friday to continue their push for a retrial on his double murder conviction.
“This is not the trial of Ms. Hill. And issues about motives and so forth and the possible commission of crimes are not what this inquiry is about. It is about her contact if any with the juror, and what she said,” says Judge Jean Toal.
Alex Murdaugh’s attorneys could call the judge who convicted him as a witness.
