“When it comes to school safety, we seem to always be protecting ourselves against yesterday’s school shooting. Our goal is to prevent tomorrow’s school shooting and so with that surveillance and monitoring is going to be the key. And for us that’s one of the first things off the bat,” he says.
Dr. Akil Ross, the Superintendent of Lexington-Richland School District Five, whose district’s 1st day was supposed to be Thursday, explains the decision making process.
The three-story $45 million wing will have over 60 sixty classrooms, multiple administrative offices, and a tech-savvy media center and library.
