Firefighters were ambushed by sniper fire while responding to a blaze in a northern Idaho mountain community Sunday, killing at least two people and unleashing barrages of gunfire over several hours in an attack the governor called a “heinous” assault.
According to Saluda County Fire Service, 53-year-old Chief Chad Satcher, and 18-year-old Firefighter Landon Bodie were killed on Friday morning when a tree fell on their Fire Apparatus while responding to a reported structure fire.
According to the Columbia-Richland Fire Department, two firefighters were injured late Saturday night while fighting a massive two-alarm fire.
