“We typically expect severe weather here in South Carolina in January and February, but now’s the time we need to prepare for those events and today it’s unseasonably cold already here in South Carolina,” says Kim Stenson, Director of SCEMD.
Governor Henry McMaster says 36 South Carolinians are now confirmed dead due to Hurricane Helene, with over 629,000 people still without power across the state.
According to the Director of SC Emergency Management Division Kim Stenson, current evacuation zones have been adjusted to better define risk and allow for greater flexibility in the event of a low-impact storm.
