Attorney General Alan Wilson says South Carolina has received $84.3 million in tobacco settlement funds. In 1998, South Carolina and 45 other states settled claims against the then four major U.S. cigarette manufacturers in what amounted to the largest financial recovery in U.S. history.
House committee looking at bill that would prevent municipalities from passing tobacco, vaping product laws
Tuesday, the House Judiciary Committee took up a bill that would prevent local municipalities from passing laws relating to tobacco or vaping products. Supporters of the measure say such decisions should be left up to the state.
