Gamecock Takes Tiger Deep

Former Gamecock Landon Powell got the better of former Tiger Jason Berken in Baltimore Wednesday afternoon. Powell’s 3rd career home run lead the Oakland to a 4-run 4th inning and a 6-3 win against the Orioles. The home run was particularly satisfying for Powell because several family members drove up from North Carolina to see him play.”Both sets of grandparents, some people who really have never seen me play much,” Powell said. “My grandparents are in their 80s and have never seen me play pro ball, so it was kind of cool.” Berken falls to 2-10 in his rookie season.
