COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — “You just cant help but follow the Gamecocks when you live in Columbia, they are everywhere.” And so is Gamecock spirit as fans and business across the city get ready for Monday night’s championship match up. Pawley’s Front Porch even has a menu named after the players. Pawley’s is also where we found Gery Register; born and raised a Gamecock fan, he says he’s ready for the game. “It’s like baseball is the only sport we have that we are like super competitive at, all year. Always at the top, like an elite program in the country,” says Register. Grey also has a few game rules when it comes to the game day t-shirt. “Grey on Friday, garnet on Saturday and black on Sunday,” says Register. Speaking of Gamecock t-shirts, Phillip Graham of Jewelry Warehouse, says merchandise is flying off the shelves. “Last weekend was just absolutely berzerk, the farther the team goes, the more and more people come in,” says Grey Register. Now that the team has made it to the finals, businesses like Carolina Ale House are getting ready for the crowds. “We are staffing up a whole lot, last year we were really busy and a little under staffed. So this year, we are making sure we have everyone on staff, and we’re ordering a lot of beer,” says Antwan Sumter, Carolina Ale House General Manager. Back at Pawley’s their also preparing for the big crowd. “Oh gracious, I expect it to be just slammed,” says Chrissy McLamb. Meanwhile, Grey Register already has his game day attire picked out. “Grey on Monday, garnet on Tuesday and black on Wednesday, if necessary,” says Register. Did you catch that? He said, if necessary. Either way Bob Decker says Columbia needs to be on standby. “USC might as well get a place ready for the trophy, dust if off right now, because it’s coming home, it’s coming home,” says Decker.
