Deputies Arrest Man Accused in Family Dollar Robbery

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott announced the arrest of Warren McDaniels in connection with a robbery at the Family Dollar Store in July. McDaniels is also believed to have been the subject on surveillance video getting beat up by the clerk at the store. Sheriff Leon Lott states that approximately 6:15 PM on Sunday, August 12, 2012 Richland County Sheriff‘s Deputies arrested McDaniels on Hoyt Street after receiving tips through Crimestoppers. Sheriff Leon Lott would like to thank the media and the community for assisting in apprehending McDaniels. Sheriff Leon Lott states that just before 9:00 AM Saturday, July 28, 2012 at 1735 Decker Boulevard (Family Dollar), Richland County Sheriff‘s Deputies responded to an armed robbery call. Sheriff Leon Lott stated the victim told deputies that a man entered the business and was paying for an item, when he reached over the counter as she was placing his money into the register. The Sheriff added that investigators have determined that man was McDaniels and not only did McDaniels steal money but he also assaulted the clerk. Sheriff Leon Lott stated that this investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are forthcoming. Sheriff Leon Lott stated McDaniels has been transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
