New Retail/Housing Numbers Out

WASHINGTON (AP)– Some good news for South Carolina’s economy, and the nation. Housing prices in South Carolina also got a boost. The Commerce Department says retail sales were up nearly 1 percent in August, helped by sales of cars and trucks. T he impact of rising gasoline prices on sales at the pump also boosted sales. Excluding those categories, sales were up just 0.1 percent.
