Maxcy Gregg Reward

(WOLO) Columbia, SC-Columbia Mayor Steve Benjamin today announced that he is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the recovery of the statue stolen from Maxcy Gregg Park in November 2012 and the arrest of those responsible. “Maxcy Gregg Park is a priceless piece of our Columbia‘s history and I can‘t help but think that our mission to restore it back to its former glory won‘t be complete as long as that statue is missing,” said Mayor Benjamin. “I wanted to do something personally not only to restore this monument but to bring the criminals responsible to justice.” “I can‘t understand why someone would do something like that but I intend to make sure it doesn‘t happen again.” In addition to personally putting up the reward amount, Mayor Benjamin, along with a majority of City Council, voted in favor of a plan to install 800 security cameras across the city including in and around city park facilities like Maxcy Gregg.
