Upstate, Florence get record July rainfall

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Several places in the South Carolina Upstate along with Florence have seen their rainiest July since records have been kept.

Data from the Southeast Regional Climate Center shows a site near Anderson reported 15.39 inches of rain in July. The Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport reported 14.45 inches of rain, while a site in Spartanburg reported 10.33 inches of rain. The totals are all records for the month.

The Florence airport also reported a July record of 14.91 inches of rain.

The University of South Carolina had 13.78 inches of rain in July, but it only ranked fourth.

It wasn’t rainy everywhere in South Carolina. The airport in North Charleston received 5.35 inches of rain in July, which was below normal.
