NC, SC officers cycle to remember the fallen

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — A group of law officers and firefighters from the Carolinas is taking part in a bicycle ride to remember those killed in the line of duty in the past year.

The 40 cyclists taking part in this year’s Carolina Brotherhood started Saturday in Rocky Mount, N.C. They’re coming through Columbia on Monday before finishing the 700-mile ride in Boone, N.C., on Aug. 17.

Proceeds raised as part of the ride go toward providing support for the families of fallen officers. Organizers say this year’s ride is in memory of six officers from North Carolina and South Carolina.
