Midlands Tech-USC students in transfer program
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Some 170 students who attend Midlands Tech and are working to transfer to the University of South Carolina are moving onto the big campus.
The students are taking part in a program called Gamecock Gateway and begin their classes on the airport campus of Midlands Tech next week.
University spokeswoman Megan Sexton says the students are moving into USC’s Roost residence hall on Friday.
Students participating in the second year of the program must successfully complete 30 hours of classes at Midlands Tech and may then transfer to South Carolina.
Sexton says about 70 percent of the students who participated in the first year enrolled in classes at USC this fall.
