Orangeburg teacher charged with abusing mother

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) — An Orangeburg middle school teacher has been charged with physically and psychologically abusing her mother.

The Times and Democrat of Orangeburg reports (http://bit.ly/1881ZDbs ) that 44-year-old Tracy Brown was charged Thursday with abuse of a vulnerable adult.

It was not clear if Brown has an attorney. She has been a teacher for 17 years.

Her 70-year-old mother has been in protective custody after authorities concluded she had several injuries that were not the result of accidents.

A health care facility for the elderly notified police last week.

The mother became a patient earlier this month when she was brought in with a broken arm and a bruise on her face. Authorities say new scratches and bruises were noticed last week
