Columbia hosts Veterans Day parade

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Veterans from across South Carolina are gathering in Columbia for an annual celebration to honor them. The City of Columbia is holding its 35th Annual Veterans Day Parade on Monday. City officials say Brig. Gen. Bradley Becker, the commanding general at Fort Jackson, is the grand marshal of this year’s parade. He is leading over 80 participants from national guard units, veterans’ groups, scout troops, high school ROTC groups and marching bands from across the state. The parade kicks off at 11 a.m. at Sumter and Laurel streets and ends near the Statehouse. There’s free parking at the Sumter Street parking garage until 3 p.m.
