Haitz resigns as publisher of The State newspaper

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Henry Haitz, publisher and president of The State Media Co., has resigned to take a similar position with Hearst’s Connecticut Media Group.
His last day with the State (http://bit.ly/1gIrAfj) will be Dec. 31. He has been with The State since 2006.
A search already has begun for a replacement, said Mark Zieman, vice president for operations for the McClatchy Co., which owns The State and four other daily newspapers in South Carolina.
Kelly Edwards, the State’s vice president and chief financial officer, will lead the newspaper until a replacement is named.
Haitz previously was publisher of the Bradenton Herald in Florida and the Centre Daily Times in Pennsylvania.
