SC Wife Arranged to Have Husband Killed
PICKENS, S.C. (AP) _ Pickens County deputies say a 34-year-old woman arranged to kill her husband so she could collect $250,000 in life insurance. Sheriff Rick Clark said Crystal Williams promised a man she had known since they were children money if he would kill her husband. Investigators say 38-year-old Shane Williams was shot to death around 3:45 a.m. Jan. 26 in his Easley home. His wife told deputies she and her 10-year-old son were asleep and awoke to gunshots. But Clark says Crystal Williams exchanged messages with 35-year-old Marcus Johnson about paying him to kill her husband of 14 years. The sheriff says the two were long-time acquaintances, but investigators haven’t found evidence they were romantically involved. Johnson and Crystal Williams were charged with murder Wednesday. It wasn’t known if they had lawyers.
