APNewsBreak: Haley to recruit jobs in Canada
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley and state commerce officials are traveling to Canada to recruit jobs.
Haley’s office told The Associated Press Tuesday that she and three Commerce officials will travel March 31 to Toronto, where Haley will speak at the Economic Club of Canada. They will travel to Ottawa the following day. The three-day economic development trip will conclude April 2 in Montreal.
Former U.S. Ambassador to Canada David Wilkins is accompanying the group, though the state is not paying his tab.
It’s the Haley administration’s first economic development trip to Canada that’s not tied to a conference of the Southeastern United States – Canadian Provinces Alliance.
Haley has also traveled to job-recruiting conferences overseas, including to Germany last September for the world’s biggest show for the automotive industry.
