Youth Violence Prevention Rally in City today

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– On Sunday, April 6, the Candlelight Vigil for Peace will be held in Finlay Park at 5 p.m. This event is a memorial calling for an end to the violence in our city. Attendees will hear from the victims and the families that have been affected by youth violence. Youth Violence Prevention Week is held in order to raise awareness and educate students, teachers, school administrators and staff, school resource officers, parents and the public on effective ways to prevent and reduce youth violence. Youth Violence Prevention Week activities continue on Monday, April 7, 2014 with the Violence Prevention Fair at the Earlewood Park Community Center, located at 1113 Parkside Dr., from 6-8 p.m. There will be dozens of agencies and organizations will provide information on a range of programs, resources, activities and events that are available to our youth.
