Presidential candidate Ben Carson in West Columbia

WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson campaigned in West Columbia today at Midlands Technical College. The former neurosurgeon and bestselling author talked about taxation, education and health care. On immigration, he says people should not take shortcuts on becoming U.S. citizens, and the federal government needs to better enforce this. Carson says those people who have babies on American soil should not be granted U.S. citizenship. Monday, the candidate officially registered and paid his filing fee at the S.C. Republican Headquarters in downtown Columbia.
