Two Die in Motorcycle Accident in Irmo
IRMO, S.C. (WOLO) — Two people are dead following a motorcycle accident in Irmo on Sunday.
Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher said the accident occurred just after 6 p.m. at the intersection of Lake Murray Boulevard and Weeping Cherry Lane.
24-year-old Jay Joy of Columbia, was driving his 2006 Yamaha motorcycle when it collided with a black SUV Fisher said.
Joy was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries he sustained in the accident.
His passenger 21-year-old Andrea Barwick of Chapin, was transported to an area hospital, where she was pronounced dead from her injuries.
Neither individual was wearing a helmet.
The driver of the SUV was not injured.
The accident remains under investigation by the Lexington County Coroner’s Office and the Irmo Police Department.
